KAYSERI, Turkey – Nenad Krstic returned from a three-game suspension for a brawl and had a double-double in Serbia's 94-79 victory over Australia at the basketball world championship on Wednesday.
Krstic scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds, Milos Teodosic added 19 points and Novica Velickovic contributed 18 points and nine rebounds for Serbia, which clinched a place in the single-elimination round.
Krstic missed Serbia's first three games and Teodosic two because of suspensions over their role in a pre-championship brawl in Greece.

LONDON, England: English Premier League club Tottenham were allowed to sign Rafael van der Vaart from Real Madrid on Wednesday after their last-ditch move for the Dutch playmaker on deadline day.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp moved for van der Vaart just two hours before the transfer window closed late on Tuesday, causing a frantic scramble to file the paperwork in time, and the north London outfit were left to wait overnight to discover if the Premier League would ratify the deal.

Three people have been arrested by Customs officials in connection with betting allegations against Pakistani cricket players.
Two men and a woman, all from London, were questioned yesterday as part of an investigation into money laundering before being released on bail, HM Revenue and Customs said.
The development came as it was announced that three Pakistan cricketers will meet officials from their country in London tomorrow.

Lohan granted the interview to the magazine in July before she served 14 days in jail followed by 23 days of inpatient rehab.

SYDNEY: Former coach of Pakistan cricket team, Geoff Lawson, has come to the defence of tainted Pakistani players being accused of match fixing during the ongoing Test series in England.
Geoff Lawson has made some startling revelations from times when he used to coach the embattled side.
Lawson feels that even if match fixing happened, it might have nothing to do with money. He claimed that during his tenure as the Pak coach, he came across fixing which was actually based on threats issued by bookies.

Talking to media along with Federal Sports Minister Aijaz Jakhrani here, he sought people of Pakistan to hold on until Scotland Yard police report, adding ‘We have written a letter regarding collaboration on the investigations with Scotland Yard and elicited from them the investigative report.

NEW DELHI: Betting scam allegations swirling around the Pakistan team are raising serious doubts over the ability of cricket's global anti-corruption watchdog to snuff out problems blighting the game.
Britain's News of the World newspaper said Sunday it had paid middleman Mazhar Majeed 150,000 pounds (230,000 dollars) for advance details of three no-balls in the final Test match between Pakistan and England at Lord's.

KARAHCI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has resolved dismissing three players including captain Salman Butt, young bowler Mohammed Aamir and fast bowler Mohammed Asif, Geo News reported.
Sources told Geo News that PCB has reached this decision, which may likely to see implementation before Thursday.
PCB’s decision is based upon revelation of match-fixing scam by a British news magazine, which allegedly held these three players involved in fixing a Test match against England.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's top crime investigative agency will send a team to Britain this week to probe corruption allegations against some of the country's cricket players, a senior official said on Tuesday.
Investigations by British police and the International Cricket Council (ICC) are already underway into a newspaper report alleging three Pakistan players had been bribed to fix incidents in last week's fourth test against England.

LONDON: Pakistan Cricket Board said Tuesday it would not suspend top players accused over a betting scam while the claims are probed, but reports suggest they will not play the rest of the tour in England.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has promised "prompt and decisive action" if the allegations made by a British Sunday newspaper are proven, insisting that corruption would not be tolerated.
Pakistani authorities have also promised severe punishment but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Tuesday it would not suspend any players while police investigated the players.
