DETROIT: The Red Wings have finally started to embrace a record they've been chasing.
Detroit equaled an NHL mark with its 20th straight win at home, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 Sunday night thanks to Johan Franzen's tiebreaking goal early in the third period along with timely defense and saves.
"We haven't talked about this at all," coach Mike Babcock insisted. "We talked about it tonight because it happened."

Metta World Peace wasn't worried about losing. He was trying to figure out how much the Lakers would win by. Having Kobe Bryant as a teammate gives you that kind of confidence.

NEW DELHI: India’s cricket chiefs on Sunday met Sahara group bosses on Sunday in a bid to woo back their disgruntled long-time sponsor, amid speculation a truce was on the cards.
Sahara had severed ties with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on February 4 for what it said was a “one-sided emotional relationship”with the governing body.
Sahara is not only the national team’s sponsor since 2000, but also owns the Pune Warriors franchise in the Indian Premier League which the group had bought last year for $370 million.

LAHORE: Pakistan and Lebanon ended the first day of their Davis Cup Asia Oceania Zone tie at 1-1 in Lebanon on Saturday.

KARACHI: Probables for the Olympic Games will be finalised in a week’s time, secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Asif Bajwa told reporters on Friday.
“We would be holding extensive training camps for the players before finalising the squad for the Olympics,” he said.
“Our focus is to provide maximum training and coaching to help players remove their deficiencies.
“The probables need to harness their skills and improve in various areas of the game,” Bajwa emphasised.

NEW DELHI: Plans for a new football league in the Indian state of West Bengal have been jeopardised after organisers were denied permission to seek the transfer of high-profile foreign players.
Argentine legend Hernan Crespo, Italy’s World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro and Robbie Fowler of England were among six semi-retired world stars due to play in the Premier Soccer League (PLS).
The new league, made up of six teams from towns in West Bengal, was set to start late March.
