  • Sports court strips Contador of 2010 Tour title

    February 6, 2012

MADRID: Alberto Contador was stripped of his 2010 Tour de France title Monday and banned for two years after sports' highest court found the Spanish cyclist guilty of doping.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended the three-time Tour champion after rejecting his claim that his positive test for clenbuterol was caused by eating contaminated meat on a 2010 Tour rest day.

The three-man CAS panel upheld appeals by the International Cycling Union and World Anti-Doping Agency, which challenged a Spanish cycling tribunal's decision last year to exonerate Contador.

The Giants had been 6-2 in the regular season before losing four games in a row and after their season was in danger of falling apart they needed to win their last two regular season games to progress to the playoffs.

    February 6, 2012

INDIANAPOLIS: You will not catch Eli Manning bragging about his two Super Bowl wins or answering those who doubted him but New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Sunday's win over the New England Patriots should end the debate over the quarterback's status.

Ever since the Giants traded up for Manning in the 2004 draft, rather than take Philip Rivers or Ben Roethlisberger, there has been a constant argument among fans and pundits over whether that move was a smart one.

  • Chrysler's "Halftime" ad: a roadmap for America?

    February 6, 2012

LAS VEGAS: Is what is good for Chrysler good for America?

The auto maker courted controversy and won kudos for a two-minute Super Bowl advertisement that was less a car sales pitch than a political message in a presidential election year.

Rugged Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood proclaimed it was "Halftime in America" in the spot that did not mention a Chrysler car or truck but intoned that the automaker's successful turnaround could be used as an example for the United States as it struggles with high unemployment and a slow economic growth rate.
