Houston, Texas: The new office bearers of the Pakistani-American Association of Greater Houston (PAAGH) took their oaths this past Saturday at Pakistan Center. The Honorable Consul General of Pakistan in Houston Aqil Nadeem administered their oaths.
Actual elections have not happened in the Pakistani-American Association of Greater Houston (PAAGH) for quite some time; and this year again, the following office bearers have been elected for two years terms:

Washington (By Adam Liptak): The Supreme Court on Friday rejected elections maps drawn by a federal court in Texas that had favored Democratic candidates there.
The unanimous decision said that redistricting is primarily a job for elected state officials and that the lower court had not paid enough deference to maps drawn by the State Legislature, which is controlled by Republicans. The justices sent the case back to the lower court, extending the uncertainty surrounding this major voting-rights case.

Houston, Texas (05-17-2010 – Pakistan Chronicle News): Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia this past Monday in the jail located along San Jacinto announced a high profile advisory panel for the Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement Program called 287(g). Panel includes people of varying background and communities. Sheriff Garcia has formed this committee to advise him on the screening of county jail inmates for immigration status.
