Suspect kills Alabama police officer, wounds another

MOBILE, Alabama: An assailant stabbed a Mobile police officer to death Friday afternoon outside Mobile County Metro Jail before fleeing in a police cruiser.

The incident began outside the jail at around 3:50 p.m. when the suspect identified as Lawrence Wallace Jr., 24, stabbed the officer before fleeing in the squad car, Lori Myles, spokeswoman for the Mobile County Sheriff's Office, said.

    SOFIA: Bulgaria’s new government will tap European Union aid in efforts to stop unemployment in the bloc’s poorest nation reaching double-digits, Social Minister Totyo Mladenov said.
