PM promises relief on load shedding, price hike

MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said Sunday the dictatorial laws of 2002 would be abolished soon.
He was addressing at the foundation laying ceremony of Multan Industrial State Workers Complex here.
The Prime Minister said the government would soon announce a new labor policy.
Gilani said the nation is faced with multiple challenges of poverty, price hike, unemployment and electricity load-shedding. “The government is framing new policies, which will provide relief to the masses, he said, adding that we are determined to provide maximum relief to the people at grassroots level.
The Prime Minister said welfare of the masses tops the government agenda.
The premier said that slain PPP leader and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had expressed the desire to empower laborers and farmers.
He directed the provincial governments to allocate funds in order to ensure the delivery of minimum Rs6000/- wage for laborers.
Gilani said: “The PPP and other coalition partners realize that people are faced with challenges of poverty, unemployment, price hike and electricity load-shedding.”
To a question, the prime minister said the government wants to have better ties with India.
About arrest of some members of Afghan jirga, he said judiciary is independent in Pakistan and decision about the arrested people would be taken as per law.
