Houston, Texas: Houston police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of two men at 3720 Harrisburg about 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 03, 2009. The suspect is described only as a black male, 21 to 22 years of age, with a black shirt and black pants.
One victim, Shahzad Anwer Quraishi, 57, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, Mohammad Aziz Zubair, 55, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Both the deceased are originally from Pakistan. Their funeral prayers were held this past Friday and a candle light vigil was held in front of the store, where they used to work by the people of the area, which shows that these were nice individuals, whom the area people respected. We at Pakistan Chronicle and Pakistan Journal will like to pray for the deceased and their loved ones and extend our heartiest condolences on this tragic loss. According to HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers R. A. Moreno and D. W. Arnold report:
Patrol officers responded to a shooting and robbery call at 3720 Harrisburg and found Zubair and Quraishi had been shot. An investigation determined Zubair called 9-1-1 during the incident and provided a description of the suspect. Further investigation determined there had been an apparent struggle at the scene. A white, extended cab pickup truck, possibly a Ford or Chevrolet was seen parked on Milby Street at the time of the incident. At that time, the occupants of the vehicle were being sought as witnesses.
Further investigation and witness statements developed information that about 8 a.m., a male and a female were seen in the 3700 block of Harrisburg, on the north sidewalk, having an argument. The male is described only as a dark skinned black male, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing about 130 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing, possibly long dark shorts with a “do rag” or some type of headgear. The female is described only as a black female in her early 30s, who walked away and turned north on Milby Street. Both individuals are being sought as possible witnesses at this time. The white pickup truck reported earlier was located and determined not to have been involved in this incident. Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
