ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Monday received an F-16 D Block 52 and two F-16 Block 15 MLU (Mid Life Upgrade) aircraft from the US, an Air Headquarter Islamabad spokesman said.

The arrival of F-16 D Block 52 aircraft at PAF Base Shahbaz marked the completion of delivery of 18 such jets to Pakistan. The two F-16 Block 15 aircraft had been sent to the US for upgrading.

A ceremony was arranged at the base to commemorate induction of the jets to the PAF fleet. A large number of PAF officials were present.

The F-16 C/D Block 52 is a high-tech fighter aircraft equipped with a state-of-the-art avionics suite and latest weapons with a ‘night precision attack’ capability.

The aircraft are much superior to the F-16s A/Bs already in the PAF's inventory.

Pakistan had signed a contract with the US in 2005-2006 for the acquisition of 18 F-16 C/D Block 52 planes.
