Local Community Leader Appointed to Houston Business Development Inc. Board of Director’s

Houston, TX: At the weekly City of Houston Council Meeting, Mr. Tasleem Siddiqui, a local community leader and activist within the Southeast Asian community, was officially appointed to Position Seven of the Houston Business Development Inc., Board of Director's.
Mr. Siddiqui has served the citizens of Houston for many years. He is currently a trustee for the Pakistani-American Association of Greater Houston - PAGH, the President of the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce - Houston and serves as a valuable member of the City of Houston Mayor's International Affairs & Development Council (MIADC). His efforts during Hurricane Katrina went above and beyond the call of duty. In working with the community, Mr. Siddiqui and his colleagues were able to serve over 400 individuals during that time. He continues to dedicate his time and effort to improving the lives of Houstonians.
During the Council Meeting, Mayor Bill White acknowledged Mr. Siddiqui's hard work for the City of Houston. The Mayor discussed Mr. Siddiqui's efforts in Houston during Hurricane Katrina and his continued service to the community. Mayor Bill White ended his congratulations towards Mr. Siddiqui by discussing how "Mr. Siddiqui is one of those citizens that have stepped up during times of crisis." He spoke of how "during times of crisis you realize who leaders are, and what Mr. Siddiqui has done is remarkable".
Council Member Jolanda Jones also congratulated Mr. Siddiqui and discussed how she has "been to a number of events on the Southwest side … charitable events, to help people who are less fortunate" where Mr. Siddiqui was involved. She stated how through her conversations with Mr. Siddiqui, she has known him as a person who "always remembers the common man and [she] knows his life is committed to remembering the common man".
Council Member M.J. Khan, the district Council Member for much of Southwest Houston, has worked closely with Mr. Siddiqui in many of his community projects and is honored to have nominated Mr. Siddiqui for consideration for the Commission. Councilman Khan iterated how "Mr. Siddiqui is known as a volunteer and community service person. He has done a lot for the people and the city of Houston during the times of Katrina and Rita. He aided in camps for the refugees, as well as during Hurricane Ike". Furthermore, Mr. Siddiqui's involvement in and contributions towards the small business community were applauded, as well as his hard work in championing and helping to develop the Pakistan Center; a community center used for various charitable and cultural events for the South Asian Community. "I want to offer my sincerest congratulations to Mr. Siddiqui. Mr. Siddiqui is a well-respected and dedicated leader. He has given so much to the citizens of Houston and I am certain that he will be a valuable addition to the Commission," said Council Member Khan.
