Karachi unrest a well-planned conspiracy: Rehman

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said that efforts were being made to improve the complex and longstanding issue of Karachi.

Interacting with media persons after meeting with Sindh’s Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, he said that police intelligence system would be improved at district, tehsil and town level across Sindh, including Karachi.

Under a well-planned conspiracy, chaos was being created in the metropolitan city of Karachi, he said.

Malik said that Karachi unrest was also part of a grand plan, currently under way in Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkwa in a bid to destabilize the country.

The interior minister said that the government would fail to resolve the challenges unless all stakeholders joined hands.

“We all want to see peace and an end of target killings in Karachi, he said.

Malik said that police and rangers would work together to control law and order situation in the city.

Speaking on this occasion, Chief Minister Shah thanked Governor Ishratul Ebad, Rehman Malik, MQM and ANP for thief cooperation to prevent the incidents of target killings.
