PESHAWAR: NWFP Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain Saturday said the whole province is affected owing to the issue of Malakand IDPs; therefore, the federal government should declare the province as calamity-hit and announce a special package for it.

Talking to Geo News, he said several districts in the province were hit with turbulence owing to the law and order situation and the districts that were not turbulent were affected by IDP issue, adding the entire province is experiencing turmoil.

The information minister revealed that the federal government did not accede as yet to the request regarding the waiver of utility bills of NWFP educational institutes; but, ‘We will again take up this matter.’

Iftikhar Hussain appealed to the international community to come forward to immediately help the Malakand affectees, so that their rehabilitation could be ensured as early as possible.
