“At one time, we used to have Dow Medical College and Sindh Medical College and students getting their MBBS degrees from University of Karachi. Now we have Dow Medical College Campus with Civil Hospital (Southwest Karachi); Sindh Medical College Campus with Jinnah Hospital (Southeast Karachi); and Dow International Medical College Campus with Dow Health Services Hospital in the Ojha Campus (Northeast Karachi). All together is now called the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS). Within DUHS, we provide for students Professional Development Center; Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center; National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology; Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Sciences for BDS & Masters in Dental Surgery; Institute of Health Management; and much more,” briefed Professor Masood Hameed Khan about DUHS.

Professor Masood Hameed Khan and his wife continued to inform: “Our Ojha campus, which is Dow International Medical College (DIMC) Campus, is for children of overseas expatriate Pakistanis, who can get MBBS degree in just 5 years after their 12th grade with only $15,000/year tuition fee plus living expenses. Those American students, who come right after the 12th grade, need some extra courses to come to par with local Pakistani standards of 12th class college student. Those American students, who have done two years of college after 12th grade, smoothly enter into curriculum at DIMC. We have modular curriculum, where same syllabus is being taught at the same time same day in all the three campuses. To get admitted, students need to get 550+ in SAT II in all these subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics/Mathematics. Other than the first batch of 50 overseas students, we now have our fourth batch going and each batch has 100 students (350 in total at present). It takes 5 years and four months to pass through our degree program. Our Northeast Ojha Campus is only for International students and has extra Rangers deployed or security and safety of students. New students are given up-to two weeks to get used to the environment at the campus and if they are not comfortable, they can get maximum amount of fees paid refunded & then they can leave the course: However it has only happened with one or two students up-till now: otherwise within seven days, everyone wants to stay and learn from our world-class institution and faculty. The Dow International Hospital affiliated with this college provides world-class healthcare and can be utilized by overseas Pakistanis as a viable affordable alternative. We will soon be bringing healthcare insurance for elderly, so that their children from abroad can take care of their parents and other significant relatives in the most amicable manner.”
